Calgary Flames defenseman Travis Hamonic has withdrawn from returning to the game, the team announced on Friday.”Earlier in the evening, Travis called me to inform us that he had decided to withdraw from the NHL return to play program,” Flames general manager Brad Treliving said in a statement. “Travis explained that due to family considerations he made the difficult decision not to participate in the Stanley Cup qualifiers and playoffs. ”
On Friday, the NHL and the AJLNH ratified a return to play plan and a new collective agreement. The Flames begin their qualifying round against the Winnipeg Jets.
