Calgary and many other weather-monitored communities

CALGARY – Environment Canada has issued another weather advisory to residents of Calgary, stating that current conditions could result in “dangerous thunderstorms” on Sunday. The agency issued the day before for the first time at 8:13 a.m., saying there could be storms in the foothills around noon. During the afternoon, these systems are expected to move east.

“Conditions are favorable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong gusts of wind, hail damage and heavy rain. ”

To date, the following areas in southern Alberta are included in monitoring, but Environment Canada says other areas may be affected later in the day:

“A very large hail can damage property, break windows, damage vehicles and cause serious injury. Remember that severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Be prepared for the weather. Protect yourself immediately if threatening weather conditions approach. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year, “said the bulletin.

A similar warning has also been issued for a number of areas in central Alberta. The risk is expected to remain until late Sunday evening.
