However, his short role as Dr Anthony Fauci on the American sketch show Saturday Night Live could see him earning his next gong.
Brad is now up for the award for Outstanding Performance by a Guest Actor in a Comedy Series.
The actor played the man who would become the face of America’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic in a short skit that opened for the series in April.
During the skit, Brad snapped the character to say, “And to the real Dr. Fauci, thank you for your calm and clarity at this troubling time.
“And thank you to the medical workers, first responders and their families for being on the front lines. “
Pitt took on the role after Dr Fauci himself suggested he should play it.
After watching the Thelma and Louise star play it, Dr Fauci said, “I think he did really well. I mean, I’m a huge Brad Pitt fan, and that’s the reason when people ask me who I like to play. I mention Brad Pitt because he’s one of my favorite actors. I think he did a great job. ”
Brad faces serious competition, however, from two other Hollywood stars for their Saturday Night Live host roles: Adam Driver and Eddie Murphy.
He will also be challenged by Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel for his work on Modern Love, as well as the late Fred Willard for his guest spot on Modern Family.
Finally, the other nominee for the award is actor Luke Kirby for his acclaimed turn as comedian Lenny Bruce in The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.
Kirby won the same award at the ceremony last year.
Meanwhile, Brad’s ex-wife Jennifer Aniston is also an Emmy nominee for her starring role in Apple TV drama The Morning Show.
Maybe if the two win, we can see them come together behind the scenes, like with the Screen Actors Guild Awards earlier this year.
The 72nd Emmy Awards will take place on September 20, 2020.
