Bollywodo press circles received another devastating blow yesterday when news of the disappearance of Saroj Khan rocked the nation. The legendary 71-year-old choreographer died of cardiac arrest. Opening to her mother’s zest for Bollywood, even at her age, Sarojji’s daughter, Sukaina, told ETimes in an interview: “She went to TV very soon. And I think Bollywood started to accept the fact that they liked television more than Bollywood, when Bollywood was in their blood. But she was still doing a few jobs. She had actresses who learned with her, including Alizeh Agnihotri, Ananya Panday, Sara Ali Khan, Saiee Manjrekar – all of these girls trained under her. Revealing who all from the film industry, Sukaina said, “Everyone was in touch. Madhuri madame (Madhuri Dixit), Subhash ji (Subhash Ghai), Jackie ji (Jackie Shroff), Govinda sir, everyone kept calling and calling me too. They asked me questions about her health and how she was doing. When they heard the news, they were all shocked like us. Earlier, Madhuri Dixit had also shared a sincere tribute to Sarojji, with whom she has collaborated on many iconic dance acts and considers a mentor. Speaking on her official Twitter account, she wrote, “I am devastated by the loss of my friend and guru, Saroj Khan. Will always be grateful for her work in helping me reach my full potential in dance. The world has lost an incredibly talented person. I will miss you.
