Three generations of the Bollywood Bachchan family have been affected by the coronavirus, while former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her daughter joined her stepfather Amitabh and her husband Abhishek on Sunday to test the virus behind COVID- 19.Maharashtra State Minister of Health Rajesh Tope said in a tweet that Aishwarya and her eight-year-old daughter had tested positive for the virus.

It was unclear if they had been admitted to the hospital, like Amitabh, a legendary Indian actor, and Abhishek were on Saturday, when they said they had mild symptoms of COVID-19.

Hospital officials and government health officials said on Sunday earlier that Amitabh and her son were in stable condition.

Aishwarya, 46, who is often on the “most beautiful” lists, has worked in several Bollywood and Hollywood films. She is brand ambassador for several multinational companies, including L’Oréal.

Amitabh’s wife Jaya, also an actor, has produced negative results, said the Minister of Health. Amitabh, 77, a revered celebrity who endorses dozens of Indian and global brands, has an estimated net worth of more than US $ 100 million, according to business analysts.

The minister then deleted his tweet, but another government official confirmed to Reuters that the information was accurate. A spokesperson for Aishwarya declined to comment.

Number of cases ranked 3rd in the world

India recorded a record increase in the number of coronavirus cases on Sunday, bringing the total number of people affected in the country to nearly 850,000, the third highest in the world, and prompting authorities to reimpose partial closures in some densely populated areas.

Data from the Federal Ministry of Health showed that more than 27,100 new cases had been reported in the past 24 hours, while the death toll had risen to 22,674 after 551 people died in one day.

Amitabh said in a tweet on Saturday evening that he had tested positive for the infectious virus. Within minutes, his actor son Abhishek, 44, tweeted that he had also tested positive. Both were transferred to Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai despite mild symptoms and the father-son duo called their millions of fans to stay calm.

Authorities launched a massive sanitation exercise in Bachchan’s upscale residence in Mumbai, spraying disinfectant in the large complex and on parked cars.

Amitabh Bachchan has been a prominent figure in the fight against the coronavirus by appearing in public service advertisements in which he urges people to wear a mask, wash their hands frequently and maintain social distance in his branded baritone.

The Indian film industry recently resumed filming after a hiatus of several months after a nationwide lockdown was imposed in late March.

But actors over 65, like Amitabh, are banned from filming because of their vulnerability to the virus.
