Body found at lake where ‘Glee’ actress Naya Rivera disappeared, authorities say

The body, which has not been identified, was discovered Monday morning at Lake Piru.

“Recovery is underway,” tweeted the VCSO.

A press conference is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department informed Rivera’s family and the body’s forensic office found in Lake Piru, Captain Eric Buschow said Monday morning.

“When you have a situation like this and it ends up being a cure, it’s difficult for everyone involved. I can’t even imagine what it’s like for the family, ”said Buschow in a live interview with KTLA on Monday morning. “Hopefully this will provide some level of closure, whatever that means, for the family. “He did not confirm that it was Rivera’s body.

The body was found floating in the northeast area of the lake Monday morning.

Authorities have been looking for Rivera, 33, since Wednesday. She went to the lake that afternoon and rented a pontoon boat with her 4-year-old son, authorities said.

Rivera’s son was later seen on the boat, but his mother was not found. A life jacket was found on the boat and the boy was wearing another. Investigators found Rivera’s handbag and her identification, but no other clues to the boat.

Rivera is presumed dead.

A video from the wharf shows Rivera and her son as the only two people on the boat, the Ventura County Sheriff Sergeant. Kevin Donoghue said at a press conference last week.

The detectives spoke to Rivera’s son and as a result of this conversation, I don’t think Rivera got to the ground, he said.

Rivera played Santana Lopez on the Fox show “Glee” for six years between 2009 and 2015, and appeared in almost all episodes of the musical-drama. She was also on the CBS sitcom “The Royal Family” and in the comedy film “The Master of Disguise”.

CNN’s Amir Vera and Cheri Mossburg contributed to this report.
