Then when Taylor Swift released her new surprise album, Folklore, on July 24, fans speculated that the baby’s name had finally been revealed in a song called “Betty.” Taylor sings: “You heard the rumors of Inez / You can’t believe a word she says / Most of the time, but this time it was true / The worst thing I’ve ever done / C ‘ was what I did to you… She said, ‘James, get on, let’s drive’ / These days turned into nights / I slept next to her, but / I dreamed about you all summer . ”
Because the 30-year-old singer mentions the names of Blake and Ryan’s two older daughters, Inez and James, fans have speculated that Betty, the only other name in the song, belongs to Reynolds’ younger daughter. “Inez ??? James ??? What if Betty was the name of Blake Livelys’ third child, ”one fan wrote on Twitter. Another added, “The way Taylor used the names Inez and James in Betty because those are the names of Blake and Ryan’s kids 🥺🥺 she really loves these kids.” Later on the day of the album’s release, a source confirmed that the younger Reynolds was in fact Betty.
This isn’t the first time Taylor has featured the Reynolds Girls in her music. In his song “Gorgeous” on the Reputation album, Blake’s eldest daughter James can be heard at the start of the track, and Blake shared that his children are big fans of Taylor. So the fact that the singer uses her surprise music to share the couple’s child name isn’t all of it.
While Blake and Ryan don’t often show their kids off, we hope to get a little glimpse of Betty eventually!
