Sometimes even the big boys have to move on.
Big Boy restaurants recently announced a new chicken sandwich on their menu. To celebrate the new article, the restaurant dusted off a forgotten character in its history, Dolly, to replace the Big Boy as the restaurant’s official mascot.
Dolly, a character from the 1950s Big Boy comic book series, will be the mascot to promote the new sandwich, reports Fox 8. For now, at least, the Big Boy will be out of the spotlight.

According to the media, Bob’s Big Boy training director Frank Alessandrini said, “We are rolling out a whole new chicken sandwich. We call it the best giggling chicken sandwich, and Dolly, who’s been with Big Boys since the 1950s as far as we can get back with our comics. We decided that she was going to be the star of this sandwich because Big Boy was the star of her two-story sandwich. ”
Alessandrini explained that the company wanted to “show that we are continuing to move forward. We are aware of the era in which we are hopefully finding ourselves turning into and out of this pandemic, but we also want to prepare for the future. ”

While the change is that the mascots seem to be just a promotional push for the new sandwich, Alessandrini seemed to imply that a more permanent change could take place.

“It’s time for Dolly to shine now with our chicken sandwich,” he said. “So she took the lead right now. She is in charge. The name will always be Big Boy, but when it comes to the logo, she leads the charge, and we’ll see when he comes back if he does. “
