Bayern is believed to be ready to let Thiago leave the Allianz Arena this summer, the player remaining with a year on his contract, and would cost around £ 30 million.
Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol says he likes the idea of Thiago moving to Anfield but warns that he should work hard for his place on Jurgen Klopp’s team.
“I would love to see him in Liverpool because that would mean that he would only strengthen the team and strengthen the competition for places,” Nicol told ESPN FC.
“If they sign it, I don’t think he’s joining the team. I don’t think he’s in the starting lineup. But yes, the more quality you have, the more competition you have for places.
“At the very least, it keeps everyone on tiptoe.”
Despite reports linking the Reds to a move for Thiago, ECHO understands that the club does not intend to make a move for the player at this time.
Thiago has played 36 games in all competitions this season, scoring three goals and collecting two assists for his teammates.
Klopp recently addressed speculation linking the Reds to a move for Thiago, but would not be determined if there was any truth in the rumors.

“Would you be surprised if I didn’t answer that, just because I never answer those kinds of questions,” said the Reds boss after Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa.
“Thiago Alcantara is a very good player. Like many other players, I like it a lot.
“But that’s all I have to say about it. “
