August Alsina reflects on her past relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith on Lil Wayne’s Young Money radio

Lil Wayne welcomed fellow New Orleans native August Alsina to the Young Money Radio Season 1 finale, where the two artists revisited Alsina’s widely publicized past relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith.

Alsina, who took part in the Apple Music program on Friday July 17 to promote her third album, Product III: state of emergency, made headlines recently after Pinkett Smith confirmed that she and the singer were romantically involved in her separation from Will Smith.

27-year-old singer “No Love” admitted to Weezy that he would always have feelings for Pinkett Smith – who described his relationship with Alsina as a “tangle” during an episode of his Facebook Watch show Red Table Talk – and that the ordeal changed her life for the better.

“I will always have love for her as a person,” Alsina told Wayne. “The experience really helped me transform and really bring out the king in me. ”

In late June, during an interview with Angela Yee, radio host for The Breakfast Club, Alsina claimed that the Smiths were having an open marriage that Will gave her permission to date Jada. Alsina doubled down on this claim when she appeared on Young Money Radio.

“As two men we had a conversation and that’s what it was,” Alsina told Wayne. Everything I talked about in my initial interview is and was, and still is, my exact truth. ”

Alsina also criticized the fact that he used his past romance with Pinkett Smith to publicize his new album.

“Absolutely not,” said the singer. “What puzzles me is that I never think it’s anyone’s business to know my business. But when my personal business starts to affect my lifestyle and livelihood, like I’ve lost partnerships and transactions behind it – because it seemed to the world as if August Alsina was a reckless New Man -Orléans, that I’m just pushing someone’s wife. ”

Despite everything, Alsina says he has no resentment towards the Smith family.

“Here’s the deal, man, nobody’s wrong here,” he said. “No one is a bad person. She didn’t attack me or what people are saying. ”

Episode 12 of Weezy Young Money Radio on Beats 1 also featured interviews with 2 Chainz, Chris Brown, Birdman and Aaron Jones of the Green Bay Packers. Stream the show here.
