Theaters remain closed, leaving studios to make tough decisions

A quiet place Part II was among the first to recognize that the time had not come for its release date of March 20, 2020. And soon all the studios changed their schedules. Some great franchise entries, like Fast & Furious 9 and Venom: that there is carnage, moved in 2021. Meanwhile, others – like the child-friendly versions Trolls: World Tour and Scoob! – chose to go directly to on-demand services.

This has been the big choice for studios since the cinemas closed in March 2020. Most have kept the larger and more expensive poles until things get back to normal. However, with children returning from school for months, family-friendly films found a ready and willing audience. Likewise, low- and medium-budget films, such as the R-rated comedy Lovebirds, took the road on demand.
