Alfredo Morelos Rangers last, while the president of Lille makes a transfer promise of “two weeks”

Lille president Gerard Lopez expects next season’s squad to be in place over the next two weeks after strong speculation about a transfer from Alfredo Morelos. Reports in France have claimed that the Ligue 1 team have agreed to personal terms and are now looking to strike a deal with Rangers.

But it is understood that the Ibrox club are looking for around £ 20million to part ways with a key member of Steven Gerrard’s squad.

Lille’s summer budget is said to be around € 130million (£ 118million), largely thanks to the impending sale of star man Victor Osimhen to Naples for £ 60million.

Lopez told L’Equipe: “The process is led by (sporting director Luis) Campos who offers profiles to Christophe Galtier.

“Where some people get it wrong is that they see certain names coming out and think we have to sign them.

“Even if we are interested in one profile, it is only in combination with others. We’re changing two forwards, it’s more complicated than selling a player and finding a replacement.

“The strength lies in the system and the quality of our screening process.

“Our squad will take place in the next two weeks.

“We will have no excuse not to fight at the top table, we do not have a budget that allows us to look elsewhere.

“We will remain humble, but we will have talent. ”

As well as Morelos the Mastiffs have been linked to Jonathan David from Ghent and it looks like the deal is not dead.

Lopez insisted, “Jonathan David absolutely wants to play at LOSC. He doesn’t want to go to other clubs.

“Our team is made for players with their own character. Everything will depend on its leaders, we could review our offer in the coming days. “

President of Lille Gérard Lopez

And the Lille chief admits that Osimhen’s decision is expected to be approved in the coming days.

Lopez confirmed: “The player has made his choice and it’s Napoli.

“Discussions are advanced, only the details are missing.

“It will be announced at the right time, and as it is not yet formalized, we still have other offers.

“It is not a linear transfer, the window in France has opened and then closed.

“In Italy, the transfer window opens in September. It takes a multitude of contracts to cover all eventualities. “
