Dallas Turner Announces College Decision Regarding CBS Sports Headquarters

Dallas Turner, a four-star defenseman from St. Thomas Aquinas High School, made a verbal commitment to Alabama on Wednesday. Turner chose the Crimson Tide from more than 30 scholarship offerings across the country, most of them from the Power Five.

Florida, Georgia, Michigan and Oklahoma were finalists for Turner’s talents in addition to Alabama. The 6 foot 4 inch, 235 pound prospect is Defense # 2, Prospect # 10 in Florida, and Rookie # 44 for Class 2021, according to the 247Sports Composite ranking.

“I have great faith in this program. The greatness of this program, the high expectations they have for their players on and off the field, “said Turner at CBS Sports headquarters after making his announcement. “Everyone who had left Alabama said they had reached their full potential there and I felt I could do it there. ”

As a junior in 2019, Turner (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) totaled 75 tackles and 15 sacks at American Heritage High School and was named MaxPreps High School Junior All-American.

His Andrew Ivans 247Sports screening report compares Turner to Shaq Lawson’s Buffalo Bills:

Already developed in the upper half, but room to add only more muscle. More wingspan with big hands. Shows good body control and balance which is likely to come from basketball. Explosive out of position, howling from the edge. Great engine and always in hunting mode. Dangerous for the twists inside. He spent much of his preparatory career with his hand in the ground, but is moving well enough to play linebacker and actually spent time in the spring before his senior season to return to cover as safety for his team of 7 against 7. Will have to improve against the race and learn to attack inside, but should become a multi-year starter for a Power 5 program given the athletic profile. Potential NFL Draft.

Turner’s entry is Alabama’s 10th in the 2021 cycle. After starting slowly, the Tides began to build the type of class that was customary under coach Nick Saban at Tuscaloosa. Alabama is now in 19th class with eight of its 10 entries being top notch variety and ranking among the top 247 rookies nationwide by 247Sports.

Alabama has finished with a top five each year since 2008.

Turner is of sports origin. Her father, Delon, played college basketball at Florida A&M and ranks as the second-highest goalscorer and third-highest rebounder in the history of the program.
