The NHLPA announced Tuesday evening that its executive council has approved the draft collective agreement, which means it will now be sent to NHLPA members for a ratification vote. The player voting window will open on Thursday and end on Friday when the decision is announced.

The NHL and the NHLPA announced Monday a memorandum of understanding signed on a full series of negotiated items, including a four-year extension to the CBA and phases 3 and 4 of the return to play plan.

The memorandum of understanding must be ratified by the NHL board of directors and the full members of the NHLPA to become official, possibly at the close of business this week.

The two votes should go smoothly. A two-thirds affirmative vote is required from the BOG, while a simple majority is required from the NHLPA. All members will vote on the package, including players from the seven teams who are not participating in the restart of the league.
