He said that the bosses of Madrid have managed to cover the worst excesses of his life style of partying – but his love of a drink has cost him his first marriage and the best years of his career.
Sneijder admits all this in his new autobiography, saying: “I didn’t know that the fact of moving to Real also meant that I settled into the nightlife of Madrid.
“I’ve been sucked in. I was young, I loved success and I loved all the attention. This is where it had to go wrong for me later in my life.
“I was using no drugs, but I drank, and I had a life-style of rock’n’roll as one of the stars of Real Madrid. All the things I was doing were all hidden.
“Even when I was completely drunk, I was driving in the streets and spent thousands of euros to pay for all the drinks in each place.
“I was weak and I showed no resistance. I let people treat me like a star. There was always a teammate with me at Real Madrid – and usually it was Guti. ”
The first wife of Sneijder, Ramona Streekstra, is a party with the son of the couple Jessy when the feast of the player has become too important and then asked for the divorce.
But it was the signal for him to hit him harder the bottle.
Sneijder said: “I have fought by myself. I hate to be alone. And why would I if I had as many friends with which to spend time with? I didn’t know that my best friend was the bottle of vodka.

“In reality, I’ve managed to stay in the team because of my intelligence in football. Physically, I’m straight down. ”
