Since they share so many similarities, fans might expect the two to have spent time together over the years. However, in light of a recent wave of “non-follow-up” that Grande made on social media, fans have started to speculate that the two women never really made friends.

Ariana Grande has been very vocal lately on social networks

Following the murder of George Floyd, many celebrities have felt compelled to go to social media to share their thoughts, feelings and reactions. Many of them, including Grande, have been outspoken supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement, directing their supporters in various ways so that they can help support the movement. Grande was not only one of Instagram’s boisterous stars advocating for social justice, but she also participated in a peaceful demonstration, winning fan praise.

Jenner, meanwhile, was not as boisterous about the cause as many fans might have expected. Although she posted several images to her Instagram account in support of Black Lives Matter, she made a relatively quick return to her usual selfie and bikini photo content. She also apparently did not participate in any demonstration. This is not the first time Jenner has received a backlash for her silence on political issues – although this time has been the most damaging to her and her brand.

Ariana Grande has a Kardashian connection

Grande and Jenner have already crossed paths. At least once in 2016, Jenner and Grande participated in New York Fashion Week, sharing photos on Instagram for proof. However, they haven’t shared documented evidence of friend dates since then, and many suspect that after their first meeting in 2016, Grande and Jenner never really made a real connection with friends.

However, Grande stayed friendly with the family and even invited Kris Jenner to be a guest star in her clip “Thank U, Next” in 2018. The moment went viral and fans loved the Kardashian reference in her video. More recently, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner appeared in Grande and Justin Bieber’s new video, “Stuck With U”.

At the end of May, Grande continued a massive wave of follow-up on social media, abandoning many celebrities on Instagram and Twitter. Not only did she click “unfollow” on Taylor Swift, Shawn Mendes and Lana Del Ray, but she also abandoned Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner.

Reddit fans quickly speculated as to the reason, many of them postulating that it was due to Grande’s belief that none of his fellow celebrities had said enough about the Black Lives Matter movement.

While many fans have said the accusation is “baseless” and that the signal of virtue among celebrities is “boring”, a few have pointed out that it could just be that Grande was hacked or purged his social media feed. Interestingly enough, a poster claimed that Grande was still following Kim Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian.

Maybe Grande and Jenner’s friendship was never important enough to deserve extra time on Grande’s social media.
