ARSENAL was beaten 3-2 by Brentford just days before their clash with Manchester City.
Gunners supporters were encouraged by the way their team destroyed Charlton in a friendly 6-0 victory over the weekend, as young Eddie Nketiah threw a hat-trick.
But Mikel Arteta watched his side slip to a loss of hand shock on the Brentford Championship side – after taking a knee as part of the ongoing Black Lives Matter protest.
The defeat could really put the morale of the players in trouble before the huge Man City game next week – Arsenal are still facing a real battle for a place in Europe.
The Gunners resume their 2019-20 campaign on Wednesday June 17 against City, second.
Arsenal currently ranks ninth in the standings after a scorching season full of substandard performance and controversy, including captain Granit Xhaka’s X rated rant to his own fans.
Arteta lined up a solid team for the match in the Emirates, with Joe Willock and Alexandre Lacazette on the scoresheet.

The first players, including Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, David Luiz, Hector Bellerin, Matteo Guendouzi and Sokratis Papastathopoulos, all played.
But it is claimed that the Gunners held a 1-0 halftime lead only to concede three times in the second and collapse to win.
Willock and Lacazette also scored in the win over Charlton, with fans keen to bring the midfielder into the squad for next week’s game against Man City.
One fan tweeted: “Joe Willock 2 goals in 2 games, the perfect time to play him against City and send Ozil to the bench. ”
Another wrote: “Willock looking for Mesut’s place against City. It might be a good decision as it offers more rhythm at the break. ”
A third added: “Lacazette and Willock score again … it’s something I guess. ”
