Vodafone’s UK mobile network subscribers had problems making and receiving calls.

Although the problem prevented voice calls from connecting, customers could still send text messages and use mobile data.

According to Downdetector, the problem started shortly after 5:00 p.m. BST and affected people across the country.

A Vodafone spokesperson said a correction was made shortly after 6:00 p.m. BST and that its operations “started to recover” soon after.

She added that not all Vodafone users were affected.

Earlier, the firm told the BBC that the incident had affected “a large number of customers.”

“I understand that this is particularly annoying, especially in a locking situation,” added a spokesperson.

The company said the problem was caused by a change it made to block a series of phone numbers used to make unwanted calls.

“In one way or another, it had a ripple effect on the vocal platform,” he said.
