THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay District Health Unit announced two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Both individuals are hospitalized with the virus.

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay District Health Unit announced two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Both individuals are hospitalized with the virus.One of them, a man in his forties, belongs to a First Nations community in the Thunder Bay district, but has been hospitalized in the territory of the North West Health Unit, which covers the rest from Ontario west to the Manitoba border.

A release from the TBDHU did not specify which community the man was from, or which hospital he was admitted to.

The second case involves a woman from the Thunder Bay area in her 50s, now hospitalized at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center.

The health unit has yet to determine how any of the individuals contracted the virus.

The Thunder Bay district now has a total of 87 confirmed cases. As of Friday morning, six of them were active, including four hospitalized for the virus, while 80 are considered resolved. In late April, the virus cost the life of a local man.
