Trump knocked on Bolton, calling him “a liar” in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. The newspaper also published Wednesday extracts from the book, titled The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memories, as the Washington Post did.

Trump told Fox News in a separate interview that Bolton had broken the law by including the highly classified in the book.

Trump would sometimes chastise Bolton in meetings, introducing him to the visit of foreign leaders, saying, “You all know the great John Bolton. He’s going to bomb you. It will take your whole country. ”

In excerpts published in the Washington Post, Bolton writes that Trump said he would invade Venezuela would be “cool” and that he was “really part of the United States. ”

The book also exposed the sometimes dim view that Trump’s advisers have of him. During a 2018 meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Bolton said he got a note from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo mocking Trump.

“It’s full of shit,” Pompeo notes said, according to a Bolton excerpt in the Washington Post.

Although Trump is publicly critical of journalists, Bolton Book quotes the President of the United States as some of his most alarming remarks to date. At the 2019 summer meeting in New Jersey, Trump reportedly said that journalists should be jailed when they have to disclose their sources: “These people must be executed. They are bastards, ”according to another extract in the Post.
