Eamonn Holmes hit Gogglebox after the producers mounted scenes of him discussing the tragic death of his father during the celebrity special.

This Morning’s post was furious after the episode was edited to show him a light comment after scenes of a child calling emergency services because his father suffered a heart attack.

The 60-year-old television host denounced the show’s creators – accusing them of having changed his real reaction to the scenes which saw him recount the death of his own father in the same way.

Eamonn has decided to set the record straight on Twitter.

He tweeted, “I am hurt beyond belief that @ C4Gogglebox has chosen not to tell me about my father dying of a roadside heart attack and replacing it with a funny story following a youngster.” boy giving his father in CPR. Silly and cruel montage. ”

Eamonn Holmes wrote about his father’s tragic death in his 2006 autobiography

He added: “So, following a tragedy that has always haunted my family, I am not in the mood to criticize holier than you, the spokesmen here who have not experienced what we made. I got nothing but praise and emotion for the ambulance control room TV program. An atrocious montage @StudioLambert. ”

In his 2006 autobiography, This Is My Life, Eamonn shared the heartbreaking details of his father’s death – and his agony at not being there to help.

Eamonn was in London at Easter in 1991 while his father, Leonard, mother, Josephine and younger brother Conor – who was then 14 – spent the weekend in their caravan at Ballycastle.

He called his parents’ house on the evening of April 3, expecting them to come back – but he did not receive a response to that initial call, and again when he called half a – hour later.

One of Eamonn’s other brothers, Colm, then called him at 7:00 pm to announce the death of their father.

In his book, Eamonn details how his father had brought his family back to their house on a country road before falling ill.

Eamonn and wife Ruth Langsford were on Celebrity Gogglebox Friday

He stopped, Josie realizing that something was really wrong when Leonard couldn’t move from the driver’s seat.

On the country road, and without a cell phone, the family was accidentally joined by a family friend named John Linehan who had spent time with them in Ballycastle.

John had also left for home, although he had originally planned to stay at the place of beauty for an additional night, and had found a backlog of traffic on Armoy Road – spotting Leonard’s car in the front of the order book.

Eamonn writes: “When John got to the car, Dad was still in charge. Mom had already reported someone who had called to ask for help.

“Conor, faithful to the end, played the role of an adult and was still in the back seat, leaning to hold on to his father. He grew up a lot that night. Realizing his distress, John moved him away from what was going on. He then knelt next to Dad.

“While they were waiting for an ambulance, John kept talking to him until he became unconscious. He tried to revive him, but by the time the ambulance team arrived, it was too late.

Eamonn was furious when Gogglebox changed his involvement

“At sixty-five, before he could retire and spend several more days with mom, a heart attack had kept my father away.”

Eamonn returned to Belfast that night after rushing to Heathrow Airport and was given a “no show” for the last flight.

Eamonn went on to explain that his mother never recovered from the loss of her husband, while the TV host himself suffered when he went to see his father’s body in the morgue.

He also thought about spending time with his father a week before he died and noticed that he was concerned about his health.

He had suffered from high blood pressure, and Eamonn wrote that his father had kept for himself that he may have already had a minor heart attack.

Leonard had to go to the hospital for a few tests, but he unfortunately died before he could make an appointment.

Eamonn has discussed the impact of his father’s death in the past – saying that he has suffered panic attacks for years.

Opening up on his panic attacks on This Morning in 2018, Eamonn revealed: “I think that, come to think of it, it was the result of my father’s sudden death and not being able to say goodbye.

“I have associated being away from home with bad things.

“It happened to me once on the air when I presented BBC television.

“It’s not much worse than that and having to cover it, the two times I was hospitalized with it. He never comes back, he can go, that’s the message, “he said – adding that he had also learned to control the attacks by telling himself that he would not die.
