Thompson and Okanagan Recognized as Safe Travel Destinations – BC News


The Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA) has been recognized as a safe travel destination by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), a global organization representing the travel and tourism industry.

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the WTTC implemented safety and health protocols, as well as a recommended set of guidelines for reopening tourism, which have been used by more than 1,200 large tourism businesses in 80 destinations around the world.

TOTA President and CEO Glenn Mandziuk says he is very proud of what British Columbia has done to facilitate tourism during the pandemic and prepare for future tourism.

“The guidelines established in British Columbia through tourism partners and approved by Worksafe BC not only meet but exceed those of the WTTC. . ”

A Safe Travels stamp has been introduced as part of the initiative, allowing tourists to recognize which companies or authorities have adopted WTTC Safe Travels protocols.

BEFORE CHRIST. The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Lisa Beare, also congratulated TOTA.

“The people of British Columbia have worked hard to smooth the curve and help make travel as safe as possible in our province. Congratulations to the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association for this recognition and their work to help keep visitors, workers and communities safe during COVID-19. ”
