Birmingham City flop Brek Shea signed for MLS Inter Miami CF – part of the American club owned by David Beckham. Wingman Shea, who has 30 international caps under his name with USMNT, had a loan from Blues under Lee Clark and Gary Rowett in 2014, borrowed from Stoke City.

Shea made two league starts and four other appearances on the bench, including in Rowett’s first game in charge – a goalless draw against the Wolves.

The tall, large man, who also had a loan spell with Barnsley during his stay in England, left these coasts shortly after his stay with Blues came to an abrupt end and returned to his native United States.

Since then, Shea – now 30, has known spells with Orlando City, the Vancouver Whitecaps and Atlanta United, before his move to Inter Miami was confirmed on Thursday.

” It feels good. I am delighted to be here, “said Shea. “Nothing can take away the first year. It’s the club’s first year and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. I will always be part of it.

“You look around the stadium and the training grounds, to have it all before you even play a game, it shows that the club is ready to do it and really do it right.

“I think I can bring versatility; I can play in a few positions. I just want to bring that and a smile and I hope to get points. ”

Inter Miami was founded in 2018 and Beckham is listed as one of the owners, as well as president of the club.
