The XI expected of Leeds United and the question to which Marcelo Bielsa must meet before the showdown Fulham

Leeds United are back at Elland Road for the first time in three and a half months on Saturday in what may be their biggest game of the season so far. Fulham made the trip up to West Yorkshire in a clash between the second and the third place in the championship, an opportunity that offers enormous opportunities to both parties.

If Leeds return to the path of victory after the defeat of 2-0 on Sunday in Cardiff, they will open a gap of ten points on the side of Scott Parker. But if the Cottagers condemn the team of Marcelo Bielsa to a second defeat in a row, they will be four points behind the Whites.

Leeds has missed an opportunity to take the initiative in resuming the race for promotion in the south of Wales, with individual errors of Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper leading the Bluebirds to just two shots on goal.

Bielsa has been forced to leave Pablo Hernandez at home for the clash with the Spanish bearing a minor injury and his cunning and his ingenuity have been missed.

He should resume training on Wednesday, so the big question this week will be whether Bielsa should the risk Saturday?

Here is an overview of the potential formation that Leeds could assert against Fulham and some of the discussion points.

The defence

If Leeds can stop Aleksandar Mitrovic, his chances of winning increase massively on Saturday.

Before the break, Leeds had recorded five blank sheets in a row with a bottom-line largely settled, there will be no major changes this weekend.

Illan Meslier has conceded its first goals in the league and Leeds United at Cardiff, in spite of two excellent strikes and will continue in goal.

You can expect that the last four are unchanged, despite the changes of Bielsa in the second period at Cardiff. Luke Ayling is expected to start at right back with Stuart Dallas in the role of left-back, while Ben White and Liam Cooper will be invited to put the irons on Fulham dangerman Mitrovic.

Kalvin Phillips has made the mistake for the first goal of Cardiff, but the hope is that it was a case where he would be handed over mentally aware.

It is likely to be held before the final four, Mateusz Klich also continue in front of him.

In regards to the widemen, neither Jack Harrison nor Helder Costa have shone in south Wales, but we all know how Bielsa is reluctant to make wholesale changes. Ian Poveda came in for his debut at Leeds when he replaced Costa for the last 13 minutes Sunday, but it seems more likely to be an option of the bench in the coming matches.

Then we come to the big question of this week – Hernandez is it directly?

If he can prove his fitness and pass unharmed to the “ball of muder”, logic dictates that he will return for a match as important.

However, any setbacks would be now costly, given that Leeds now go to two games a week for the next month, with eight matches to come in just 25 days – a test for any professional, let alone a player of 35 years, which comes out of a wound.

Although Bielsa was reluctant to turn, these extraordinary circumstances might they be rethought?

Our XI expected to face Fulham

The debate on Patrick Bamford is back this weekend after another performance where his hard work is accompanied by a lack of avant-guard in front of the goal, while Leeds have massively under-performed relative to its value xG.

But at the risk of repeating myself, Bielsa just isn’t likely to change things at this stage, in particular with the physical condition of Jean-Kevin Augustin is still an issue.

Although the potential return of Hernandez to release Tyler Roberts to take over the functions of the center forward, the Welsh is more likely to be an option of the bench.
