Jordan Henderson has praised Philippe Coutinho as the Brazilian would return to Liverpool this summer. The duo has played coast to coast between 2013 and 2018 before Coutinho left Anfield for Barcelona for a transfer of $ 142 million pounds sterling.

But the player 28-year-old has struggled since joining the Spanish giants and has spent this season on loan with Bayern Munich.

Barcelona is ready to let go of Coutinho this summer and a host of Premier League clubs are interested, including Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Newcastle United.

But the midfielder favours a return to Liverpool and would be willing to take a pay reduction to ensure that the move to continue.

And in the midst of speculation about a meeting of Anfield, Henderson has opened up his admiration for his former team-mate.

” [Coutinho is] So good as a player, technically, ” said the skipper of the Reds, Rio Ferdinand on The locker room .

“Once again, I loved playing football, I wanted to be playing with the football. Such a top-tier player and a big boy too. ”

Henderson also praised Coutinho earlier this year, and stated that he “would always be welcome” at Liverpool – but he has downplayed the idea of a return to Anfield for the international brazilian.

“Phil is a good friend to me,” said Henderson to the publication Spanish sport in February.

“I think it is a footballer exceptional, he has everything, he has a good attitude and he loves football. Then, of course, for me, it would always be welcome, but it does not depend on me.

“It’s probably best to ask this to the manager. The boys loved it, so if you ask one of them, I’m sure they will say that they would like to see come back.

“But I think his time here is passed, he moved out and I hope that in the near future, we will see the same Phil that we’ve seen here. ”
