Spotify’s stock increases after entering into podcast agreements with Kim Kardashian, DC


Spotify Technology SA shares [S: SPOT] are up over 12% in Thursday’s trading amid optimism over a series of podcast offerings. The company announced Tuesday its partnership with Warner Bros. and DC to create and distribute exclusive narrative podcasts focused on the DC universe. “In addition to producing stories based on characters and existing Warner Bros. franchises. and DC, the two entities will also collaborate with Spotify to create new programming from the original intellectual property, “said Spotify in a blog post. The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday evening that the company had also reached an agreement with Kim Kardashian West for a podcast focusing on criminal justice issues. Spotify is deepening its involvement in podcasts and has agreed to buy the sports content brand The Ringer earlier this year in an effort to develop its sports vertical.
