Sophie Wessex on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle withdrawn from the royal family

When Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Prince Andrew all stepped down as quick-working royals (albeit for very different reasons), a spotlight was placed on Countess of Wessex Sophie.

In this new lean monarchy, the stepdaughter of the queen and a close relative holds a more important role. And now a broad profile published in the Time over the weekend, put his work in focus.

The play highlighted the Duchess’ recent trip to South Sudan and the work she is doing to combat sexual violence in conflict. He also asked if he was asked to do more, since there are new members of the royal family who are working less than just a few months ago.

“We all have our own small wallets. I don’t see anything changing, but if we are asked to do more… I don’t know because it didn’t really happen, ”she told journalist Christina Lamb, noting that her job at time is pretty full and it was so long before Harry, Meghan and Andrew actually resigned from public office.

In May, the royal family, including Sophie, paid tribute to nurses across the Commonwealth.

“I’m already busy enough, so I don’t know how much more I can do,” she said. “There are only as many hours in the day. People may be paying more attention to what I do, but I am as busy as ever. “

She also spoke of identifying as a feminist: “Now there is a question. I guess I probably am. I believe in equality for all. “

But when it comes to speaking to family members who have recently left the fold, so to speak, she did so briefly, refusing to comment on Prince Andrew’s friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, and the allegations to which he faces (and continues to deny) Virginia Roberts-Giuffre.

“I can’t say anything about it,” she said. ” I am sorry. You can understand that I cannot answer. ”

She was more positive, if not less succinct, when talking about Harry and Meghan.

“I just hope they will be happy,” she said.
