Phillips sends warning to Leeds over West Brom advantage

Kevin Phillips believes the experience of West Bromwich Albion, the team gave his former club an advantage over Leeds United in the Championship title race.

The two clubs resume the course of their long battle for first place this weekend with Albion host Birmingham City today, while Leeds travel to Cardiff tomorrow.

Slaven Bilic’s side are a point behind the Whites with nine days remaining and hold a six-point lead on third-placed Fulham.

And Phillips believes that the Baggies ” old guard, a role to play in the crucial run-in.

Arsenal and Tottenham keen to Ferguson

Arsenal and Tottenham have registered an interest in West Bromwich Albion defender Nathan Ferguson in advance of the next transfer window, according to reports.

The 19-year-old, who burst onto the scene under Slaven Bilic at the start of the season, is expected to leave The Hawthorns when his contract expires this summer.

Ferguson, who last played for Albion at the end of January, has been joining Crystal Palace, six months ago, after a £11 million fee has been agreed.

But the case collapsed when a knee problem was discovered during the medical that required surgery.

It may be against their instincts on any Saturday afternoon, but West Brom fans should stay away from The Hawthorns, Slaven Bilic has pleaded.

Championship football returns this weekend, with Albion welcome to the City of Birmingham to be selected by Sky Sports for live coverage – more than three months after the date originally fixed.

Brentford boss intake

Brentford currently sit ten points behind West Brom are not in the power of their own chance of burning the steps two at Fulham and the baggies to ensure their own at promotion.
