I understand that the game is more years than Meyer’s Urban Ohio state career coaching has lasted, but I have no doubt a 76 year old Saban will still be on the sidelines .
Word of the Day: Legerity.
LEVEL 1. In a given year, there are only five or 10 teams, you can reasonably expect to win a national title.
Many people across the country dislike admitting that admirably believing that every team has a shot, but it is really easy to come to terms with the reality that your team is one of the contenders every year.
And this year is no different.
… when we talk about the biggest prize at all, in a national title, only a handful of teams, realistically, get into the conversation.
Even among those of competitors, it is absolutely likely that College Football Playoff teams will depart and those fringe programs hoping for a conversation crash.
Today we are going to sort the 2020 national title contenders by levels. All 15 teams included in the 2020 Blue-Chip Ratio due to the cut as did several troublemakers. Remember, every champion in the internet age hit blue-chip ratio threshold – a list made up of at least 50 percent of four and five star recruits – so these 15 programs are the most likely teams to become a champion.
Members: Alabama, Clemson, The State of Ohio
This level represents five of the six national CFB playoff titles of the time. These teams are talented, deep and consistent. In Alabama, and Clemson have reached the playoffs in five of the past six seasons. The State of Ohio has erased the 11-barrier win for eight seasons, and it has finished in the top seven CFB playoffs each year, the format of existence. These are college football constants, and nothing changes, in this regard, to enter in 2020.
Clemson (Trevor Lawrence) and Ohio State (Justin Champs) claim the top two quarters in the sport. These two QBs are surrounded by talented rosters with future first-round picks scattered across the board. Clemson’s schedule, even with a November trip to South Bend, is more favorable than any other competitor. Ohio State didn’t have a tough road games with Oregon and Penn State. But given that many stages of the capacity limit due to COVID-19 concerns, those previously intimidating road games seem much less intimidating. In addition, the State of Ohio prevents the Big Ten in the West from playing the best cross-division teams.
I know there are a lot of people out there who like to downplay recruiting for their role in a successful title (which, frankly, makes my brain want to explode) but that’s what happens when your team is built on the back-to-back classes that have been the best two in the history of the program at a time, especially when you add the top-rated quarterback perspective in the history of the program to one of these classes.
Imagine that the team that consistently shoots in the best players in the country is a national perennial title contender.
HALF OF THE TOP 10. Despite some recent lack profiles for trail recruiting (* sigh * – has Ryan Jour lost his advantage?), Ohio State is still in the lead to sign an absolutely absurd 2021 recruiting class.
Here’s the thing – even after missing out on the top-247’s # 3 player in 247Sports’ which was once 100 percent crystal clod for the Buckeyes, Ohio State, is probably down to earth half of the current top 10.
The 2021 Top247 update is out and Ohio State targets are all on those rankings. The Buckeyes have the No. 1 ranked country class in the Composite 247Sports Recruiting Team rankings, and Ryan Jour and the Brand Pantoni and staff are able to add to this class in a big way, when l ‘we are looking at the Top247 update.
Currently Jour and his team have made commitments from three of the top 10 prospects to 2021 Top247. And when we look at the update of the rankings and the Crystal Ball, the Buckeyes are positioned at the ground five of the countries of the Top 10 prospects. Defensive lineman J. T. Tuimoloau is the No. 1 country in prospect and receiver of Emeka Egbuka checks at No. 8. The Buckeyes are the Crystal Ball, leader of the earth at the same time. Already committed to Ohio State are defensive, Jack Sawyer which is the No. 5 global perspective country, offensive lineman Donovan Jackson who went from No. 11 to No. 6, and running in rear TreVeyon Henderson, which went from # 13 to # 10 in the just released Top247 update.
And if that was not enough, there are four top-60 players signed up behind them.
I remember my concern that Ohio State recruiting might plunge a bit with Ryan Day at the helm instead of Meyer Urban. Sometimes I’m happy to be a moron.
The funniest thing for me is Ryan of the Day at the warm-up. Wait until he gets a couple of nattys under his belt, then ask me about his recruiting prowess.
HARD HITS. For you HBO Consumer Shots, I have some delicious news: Joey Bosa and his dry desert sense of humor will be coming to your TV screen in August.
This year, #HardKnocks the chefs of Los Angeles.

It won’t just be Bosa, I’m sure we’ll see some Buckeyes in action. Personally, I can’t wait to hear Buckeye legend Jake McQuaide mic d up.
REMEMBER THE LAST TIME? Alabama made the wrong decision to return for more after the Ohio State was punched in the mouth at the last meeting.
With the next meeting announced, it’s a solid time to remember that even if it was a game score, the Ohio State dominated the Tide all over the field.
Highest ranked Alabama vs Ohio State players in 2014:

2. Michael Bennett, OSU
3. Steve Miller, OSU

It’s important to note that the state of Ohio had the top 5 most popular game players, and all five played in radically different positions. And somehow, none of them were the guy who ran for 230 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries.
