Pope Benedict XVI travelled from the Vatican to his a native of Germany today to be next to his 96-year-old brother who is sick.
Benedict, 93, arrived in Regensburg, where his brother, Monsignor Georg Ratzinger, the life and the ‘will to spend the necessary time with his sick brother, the Vatican said in a statement.

The diocese has said that Benedict, who was wearing a white dress and a jacket, landed in Munich at 11.45 am and was welcomed by the Bishop Rudolf Voderholzer, who accompanied the retirement of the pope’s lecture in Regensburg, where it will stay.
The Vatican has refused to say how much of Benedict traveled, but the Italian media have reported that the government of Italy had paid an official plane, apparently operated by the Italian air force, for the flight to Munich.
The pension of the pope was then reportedly drove to Regensburg to visit her brother.
At the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis would have went to greet Benedict on Thursday morning, shortly before his departure.
Upon his arrival, the German Bishops Conference, welcomed pope Benedict with a statement that follows: “We are pleased that he has come to his homeland, where he has worked for several years at our bishops conference, even if the occasion is a sad one.
“The pope emeritus will be close to his brother, whose health condition has worsened. We wish to the (emeritus) pope a good stay in Germany, and the calm necessary to take care of his brother in private.
The diocese of Regensburg has also invited all those who wanted to express their closeness to the brothers of the do with ” the silence of prayer.’
