RB Leipzig chief denies Chelsea transfer deal for Liverpool-linked Timo Werner

RB Leipzig chief Oliver Mintzlaff has denied claims that Chelsea would agree to sign Timo Werner on the Bundesliga side. The German international, strongly linked to Liverpool, would have largely accepted the conditions with the Blues for a transfer when the window opened.

The news of Werner’s supposed change of heart provoked some disappointment among Reds fans, but the German side spoke out amid speculation.

Mintzlaff, world football manager at Red Bull GmbH and the man who oversees the brand’s clubs around the world, said there had been no contact between the two clubs.

“We haven’t had a chat with Chelsea yet. So far, Timo Werner has not drawn the clause, and no club has sent a transfer contract, “he told Sky Germany.

“We have nothing to report and are not involved in daily speculation.”
