Outlander star Sam Heughan makes cranachan Scottish treat with Good Morning America host

Outlander star Sam Heughan joined Good Morning America host Ginger Zee on Instagram to create the traditional Scottish cranachan.While making the drink-like dessert, the Dumfries-born actor talked about his work with the charity My Peak Challenge before revealing more about his new show Men in Kilts.

The Starz has produced eight series of parts, the trailer of which has just been released, features Sam and co-star Graham McTavish traveling across Scotland to learn more about the country’s history and culture.

Sam joked that he had “a lot of fun” putting the “extremely grumpy” Graham through as many difficult situations as possible, but added that his good-natured Scotsman took him well.

Sam and Ginger then worked together on making the popular Scottish dessert, which the Star Outlander had “delighted” that GMA had chosen for them to do during the interview.

Having already “soaked his oats” during the night with his whiskey, Sam then joked that he should have gotten Graham along to help make the cranachan.

The Scottish actor said one of his favorite memories was picking raspberries and strawberries in the summer as a child, and made the admission that he grew up as a vegetarian and didn’t start eating meat until he moved to the US.

When asked to become an actor, he said he had fallen in love with theatre when he moved to Edinburgh when he was younger.

Sam also answered questions about the difference between Scotch and American whiskey, whether Graham is like his character on the show, and how he did research on his new podcast and TV show.

He also talked a little more about his Sassenach whiskey, cooking with his mother and what it’s like to shoot scenes from Outlander in Scotland.

Asked about the release date of his new show, he admitted that he could not say “soon” adding that it would certainly be before the end of the year.
