Ontario Region Moving to COVID-19 Stage 2 Reopening

Several regions of Ontario are on the move in the province’s second phase of the reopening plan on Friday, including parts of the Greater Toronto Area.York, Durham and the Niagara region are among the areas allowed to further open their economies, although Toronto, Peel and Windsor-Essex will remain in the first leg, at least until next Friday.

Most regions were allowed to enter the second stage last Friday, with the exception of the Greater Toronto Area and Hamilton, some regions bordering the United States and those with COVID-19 homes for migrant workers.

The second stage of the reopening includes restaurant terraces, hair salons and swimming pools.

As with Toronto, Peel and Windsor-Essex, Prime Minister Doug Ford asked for patience.

He says the province will re-assess its readiness on Monday.
