Ole Gunnar Solskjaer underscored his commitment to eliminating “rotten apples” at Manchester United that could threaten to jeopardize the progress of a team trying to extend an undefeated match by 11 games when the Premier League campaign resumes.

The Norwegian started a huge reconstruction job for good last summer, recruiting people like Harry Maguire, Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka in order to form a new team around a core of ambitious young British players .

With Brandon Williams Academy graduates, Scott McTominay and Mason Greenwood in full swing and in addition to the new hires, United barely missed the costly adjustments that Solskjaer dropped in the summer.

Marcus Rashford assumed the scorer position in place of Romelu Lukaku, while Greenwood has already scored as many goals this season as Alexis Sanchez has succeeded in his entire United career.

Despite the progress that has no doubt been made, Solskjaer is expected to spend significantly this summer, but he warned that any player he adds to the mix will have to adhere to the collective philosophy.

“I felt professional and I felt privileged to play for Manchester United,” said Solskjaer in an interview with the ShivNadar Foundation. “I wouldn’t be able to look at myself if I didn’t know that I had given everything for my teammates and my manager.

“This is what I also look for in the players we sign or raise from the youth team. You have to have a good personality and be professional because a rotten apple in the basket will rot others.

“So, for me, it’s about building a team that will reflect me and the personalities and opinions of my coaching staff. Of course, there are standards because we want to win. We want to win.

“But the first step to being a player and a Man Utd person, you have to be humble enough to know that you have to work hard. Never give in and always do your best, 100% effort is required each day and don’t think you are better than you.

“You should always play with this confidence at the same time. It’s a good balance, but it’s what will make the difference when we want to win the championship again. ”
