Former Super Eagles captain to start managerial career as goalkeeper coach for French league team Iris

The former goalkeeper for Lille and Nigeria has been named the new goalkeeper coach for the Iris Club de Croix.The 37-year-old has not had a club since he left the French high-flying team Lille in August 2018, and now has had the chance to start his journey in management.

In a statement posted on Club Iris’ Facebook page, the winner of the 2013 African Cup of Nations will coach the team’s reserve goalkeepers to the U16 division.

Enyeama began his professional career at Ibom stars in 1999 before teaming up with Enyimba where he helped the Aba-based team win three Nigeria Professional League titles, two Caf Champions Leagues and a Caf Super Cup diadem.

In 2015 he moved to Bnei Yehuda and in his first season helped the Lions reach the Israeli State Cup final as well as a fourth place in the Israeli elite which earned them a place in Uefa 2006. mug [now Europa League].

After two seasons at Bloomfield Stadium, he was signed for Hapoel Tel Aviv. There he was their main penalty shooter and inspired the club to two Israeli State Cup trophies and one Israeli Premier League title.

In 2013, he played 14 games without conceding a goal before being beaten for the first time in 1062 minutes against Bordeaux.

Internationally, he made his debut in 2002 against Kenya before going further to appear at the 2002 Football World Cup.

He has drawn attention to his Super Eagles career after representing the country in three World Cups, a FIFA Confederation Cup and five Afcon appearances.

Enyeama has 101 appearances and is the most capped player in Nigeria, an honor he shares with current Super Eagles assistant coach Joseph Yobo.

Recently, his former international teammate John Utaka was named manager of the Montpellier U19 team.
