NHL central city decision could happen today if the decision were made

According to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun, the NHL could make its decision as a hub city on Friday if the NHL and the NHL Players’ Association can make a decision.LeBrun adds that the feeling he gets is extremely close between the Edmonton and Toronto offerings, with only one source giving Toronto a slight advantage. Players should have more discussions on the two deals Friday morning and return to the league.

The Vancouver Canucks homeowner group officially withdrew from the race to become a hub on Thursday, leaving Chicago, Edmonton, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Toronto as remaining options to welcome the return of the league.

Vancouver was considered a favorite until Thursday when, as LeBrun reported on insider trading, the team’s offer had derailed after conversations with provincial health officials.

Vegas remains an expected destination as one of two centers in Phase 4 of the league, which is slated to begin in late July or early August.
