New web site aims to connect local eaters with local producers


Want to eat local, but don’t know where to find local food? A new website can help

If you are an Algoma resident and want to make local purchases of food products, your research has gotten easier with the launch of Buy Algoma, buy Local, the new website:

Equipped with an interactive map, buy Algoma, buy Local web site is designed to be a quick and easy way to locate producers, processors, farmers ‘ markets, restaurants and retailers, said the Rural Agri-Innovation Network Food.

Users can search for available items in the following categories:

The program is partially funded by the Algoma Community Foundation COVID-19 Intervention Fund.

“As we begin to move through and beyond the pandemic, Algoma Community Foundation envisions a future focused on the fairness, the sustainability and the abundance of Algoma,” said ACF co-chair Jessica Bolduc in a press release published today.

“One of the main objectives of the update of the website is to provide the population in the Algoma region with the tools and resources needed to discover and support our food economy,” said the RAIN Manager David Thompson.

Producers, processors, restaurants or retailers that wish to become members of the Buy Algoma, Buy Local, can visit the new web site
