New cases of COVIDE-19 in Quebec remain below 200 for the sixth day, hospitalizations decrease again


Quebec public health authorities announced Saturday that a total of 53,824 people tested positive for COVIDE-19 and 5,195 people died. That’s 47 more than the 5,148 deaths reported Friday. The authorities reported that 16 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, and 31 occurred before 5 June.

Positive cases of the new coronavirus increased by 158 on Saturday, marking six consecutive days when the number remained below 200.

The number of hospitalizations dropped by 52 on Saturday, with 788 patients currently being treated for the virus in Quebec hospitals. Of those hospitalized, 102 are in intensive care, five fewer than 24 hours ago.

Authorities said an additional 458 people have recovered, bringing the total to 21,281.

Sante Quebec reported that it took 9,811 samples on June 11 and analyzed 9,493 samples. That’s 537 more tests than was reported Friday.
