It’s official – at least for now: Disney said on Friday that it was moving the Mulan release date from July 25 to August 21, the weekend after PrincipleOpen five days from August 12 to 16.We heard some noise about this earlier this week, as we told you, with cases of COVID-19 exploding nationwide and reopening theaters in New York, Los Angeles and China. Even though California has provided guidelines for the reopening of cinemas, Los Angeles County has not yet given the green light.

The good news here for the show is that Disney has an opening plan Mulan in the near future, close to Principle and not during the holidays or in 2021 (or even on Disney + for that matter). MulanThe moola will be greatly appreciated.

Bill and Ted face music at the end of August after the change of “principle”

“As the pandemic changed our release plans for Mulan and we will continue to be flexible under the conditions, it has not changed our belief in the power of this film and its message of hope and perseverance, “said Alan Horn, co-president and creative director, and Alan Bergman, co-president, The Walt Disney Studios. “Director Niki Caro and our cast and crew have created a magnificent, epic and moving film that is everything the cinematic experience should be, and that’s where we think it belongs – on the world stage and on the big screen for audiences around the world at Be Happy Together. ”

What’s happening now is that we’ll probably see cinemas, like AMC, changing their reopening schedule. What was July 10 for the reopening of circuit # 1 will probably become July 31, with staggered reopenings on August 7 and August 12. I hear Cinemark will reopen 75 theaters next weekend and depend, natch, on the product in the catalog; from a source, not one of the channel’s insiders. For the most part, the majority of exhibitors in the country will be close to the 4 1/2 month closing on July 31 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We will develop a revised release schedule for the summer (which is now turning into the fall) after seeing where Solstice Studios puts Disturbs, Sony puts Broken Hearts Gallery, and where STX stands Greenland. MGM has just moved Bill & Ted facing music from August 14 to August 28 after Principle plopped on its release date.
