Mitcham incident: 4-year-old child dies, woman fights for life after being found injured in south London house


A child died and a woman fights for her life after being found injured in a house in south London.

Police and paramedics, including an air ambulance, were called to Monarch Parade in Mitcham around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The 35-year-old woman was taken to hospital, where she remains in danger of death.

The child, a four-year-old girl, was also taken to hospital, but died shortly after. His close relatives have been informed.

An investigation is underway following the incident, said Scotland Yard.

No arrests have been made.

Officers remained in the area and a crime scene was in place Tuesday evening.

“A post mortem examination will take place in due course,” the police said in a statement.
