Mikel Arteta will make a late decision on the alignment against Man City while Arsenal sweating on Granit Xhaka

Mikel Arteta is expected to make a late decision on his composition Arsenal before the trip to Manchester City. The midfielder of the Gunners Granit Xhaka did not take part in any friendly match warm-up against Charlton or Brentford because of a problem that he has managed.

But he has trained this week and this will be the call for Arteta to find out if the swiss international is strong.

Xhaka, the head of a more experienced Arsenal in the centre of the midfield, should always start, unless there are problems late with the former skipper.

Loan, the Spanish midfield Dani Ceballos should also get the green light in front of the back four, Mesut Ozil playing slightly further forward.

Arteta will give Xhaka as long as necessary

It comes as the midfield of 22 year-old Ainsley Maitland-Niles has impressed in training and was also featured in the friendly matches with Charlton and Brentford.

The boss of Arsenal, Arteta, has a rich harvest of young people and sees Maitland-Niles as having a potential as a midfielder, having been played out of position at the back or in the back.

But Maitland-Niles is likely to have discussions with Arteta next week on its future and its role in the formation of his team in the long term.

However, it would appear that Arteta thinks that Maitland-Niles has a future at the club and the English international under-21 years of age must now seize this opportunity.

Arsenal (possible; 4-2-3-1): B Leno; H Bellerín, S Mustafi, D Luiz, K Tierney; D Ceballos, G Xhaka; N Pépé, M Özil, P-E Aubameyang; A Lacazette.
