Michael Jordan and the crew of his yacht, “Catch 23″, turned Tuesday in a 442.3 pound blue marlin on day two of the Big Rock Blue Marlin tournament currently taking place in North Carolina.”I’m still looking for an excuse to be back in North Carolina,” Jordan told Big Rock TV, according to 247 Sports. “… this is a chance to go home. I love going home. ”

According to ESPN, Jordan’s take on Tuesday afternoon was the fifth largest reel. Last year’s winning catch weighed more than 910 pounds, while a number of other recent winners were between 500 and 800 pounds.

The tournament will span six fishing days and is scheduled to end on Saturday.

Jordan said on Tuesday that he had caught a blue marlin before, but never off the coast of North Carolina.

“I always feel like the North Carolinians are coming to support their stars,” said the former UNC, who became the Bulls’ star shortly after leaving his 80-foot Viking sport fishing yacht.
