There are now more than 1,000 Mcdonald’s sites open for drive-throughs and delivery in the UK and, next Wednesday, 200 welcome restaurants walk-in for dinners to collect takeout.
Already, 11 restaurants have opened this week as a pilot, with strict social distancing and security measures in place.
In the meantime, it’s good news for fans of Mcdonald’s breakfast, popular items to return to the menu, but there are still some limits.
The McMuffin will be tested at 42 restaurants starting Wednesday before taking a full scale back. Like the main Mcdonald’s menu, the breakfast menu will be limited, as there are fewer staff on site due to social distance requirements.
But the chain says they “kept the classics” with hash browns, McMuffins and pancakes all available.
In an email to customers, Mcdonald’s UK, the CEO, Paul Pomroy, said: “We put the safety and well-being of our teams, customers and smuggling partners first in all of our restaurants.
“In our take-out restaurants, which includes the introduction of floor markings, other Plexiglas screens and hand sanitation stations for customers.
“We are going to restrict the numbers inside our restaurants, and more traffic control personnel in and out of the dining hall than we do our best to keep you safe. But we need your help too.
“It is important for all of us to continue to follow government and health authority guidelines, especially if you need to queue outside our restaurants before there is space for you to enter – and please be sure to follow the social distancing and security measures that we have put in place once you are inside. ”
Mcdonald’s will be sharing more information about the pilot and take-out breakfast restaurants Wednesday morning through the website chain, the app and social media.
