MANCHESTER UNITED could offer Dan James an exceptional new offer – then lend it next season.
The 22-year-old Welsh winger made 37 appearances this quarter and will be rewarded with a raise.
But the door can be left open for the former Swansea striker to play away from Old Trafford if he signs in the summer.
United is pushing for Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and is slated for the right slot, so James may not get many regular starts.
He joined United just a year ago from the Swansea championship team for £ 15 million.
James has scored four times in 37 games with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season.
And he still has a chance to impress more when United resumes his Premier League campaign against the Spurs on June 19.
However, Solskjaer is keen to land in Dortmund and the English flyer Sancho.
The 20-year-old has 17 goals and 16 assists in the Bundesliga this season.
Sancho could cost more than £ 100 million this summer.

And United have reportedly signaled their intention to focus on signing by dropping their interest in Chelsea-linked Timo Werner.
SunSport revealed exclusively last month that United are also looking for a £ 50m contract for Bayern Leverkusen playmaker Kai Havertz.
And other reports suggest that Solskjaer also wants to sign Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish, further limiting James’ chances.
