Steve Bing, filmmaker and philanthropist and father of Elizabeth Hurley son Damian, died at the age of 55.
Bing, whose career in film production started when he inherited $ 600 million from his real estate grandfather tycoon, is said to have taken his own life.
At the time of his death, his net worth was estimated at $ 590 million.
Details of his death were first released by TMZ on Monday.
The producer and director died after jumping from the 27th floor of the city’s studio apartment building where he lived.
Sources said the site he was “depressed” about being isolated during the coronavirus, but it is unclear whether this had anything to do with his suicide.

Hurley and son Damian, 18. Court documents in 2018 said Damian had never met his father.
Bing fortune came from his grandfather Leon, who built luxury apartment homes in New York in the 1920s.
His father, Dr. Peter Bing, worked on public health issues for the White House Johnson, before moving to Los Angeles, where he attended the family business.
The family appeared on the Forbes list of the 400 richest Americans.

Despite his immense legacy, Bing was not well known to the general public until his relationship with Hurley.

By the time he finished high school at Harvard-Westlake School, Bing had already co-written his first screenplay, “Disappeared in Action,” with veteran sitcom writer Arthur Argent.
It was made in a Chuck Norris in the film and which gave birth to a sequel.
He inherited his fortune on his 18th birthday, and dropped out of Stanford in his junior year to pursue filmmaking.
In the early 1990s, he reportedly checked into the Bel-Air Hotel for one night, and then stayed there for nine years.
Bing maintained a low profile, but was forced to honor by their relationship and an action in recognition of paternity, which delighted the tabloids on both sides of the Atlantic and led him to file many defamation and invasion of costume privacy.

Friends of Bing said that the 6’4 ’producer is famous for his good sense of humor and intelligence.

He is perhaps best known for his 18-year-old son, Damian, with actress Elizabeth Hurley.
Hurley met Bing in 2000, when she was just coming out of 13 years of relationship with Hugh Grant.
They had been together for less than a year.
The couple, whose relationship remained non-exclusive, separated briefly in March 2001.
They would have been reconnected shortly after, in August visited Elton John holiday home in Nice.
Hurley informed Bing after they separated that he was the father of his child.
He released a statement saying that they had not been in an exclusive relationship, and that it was “his choice to be a single mother.”
Tabloids in Britain, where Hurley lives, variously labeled him “Bing Laden” and a “manic spermicide.”
Bing first challenged Hurley to claim that he was the father, but later a DNA test proved the opposite.
In the same year that Damian was born, 2001, Bing faced paternity recognition action from a second woman, professional tennis player Lisa Bonder.
Bonder, who in 1984 was ranked 9th in the world in singles, was involved in a high-profile child support trial with her 28-day ex-husband, billionaire Kirk Kerkorian.
Kerkorian, 48 years older than Bonder, suspects that Bing – Bonder ex boyfriend was the father of his daughter.
Kerkorian hired infamous private investigator Anthony Pellicano to investigate, and de Pellicano had used dental floss from Bing the trash to do a DNA test to confirm that he was the father.
Pellicano also listens for electronic Bonder phone calls.
Pellicano was later found guilty of various offenses, including wiretapping, and received it after 15 years in prison.

In 2002, Bing was the largest donor to the Natural Resources Defense Council, with a contribution of $ 10 million.
He contributed $ 3.5 million to support and defend the 1998 initiative that imposed a 50-cent-per-pack cigarette tax to fund child care and tobacco control programs for preschoolers, and was generous to Democratic candidates.
On the night of the 2000 general election, Bing immediately committed $ 200,000 to narrate the effort.
