Liverpool, winner of the Premier League LIVE title! Latest news and reactions as the LFC becomes champion of England

Liverpool have officially been crowned Premier League champions to end their 30-year wait for the title.

After the 4-0 demolition last night of Crystal Palace at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp’s team only needed two points to claim the title after a superb 2019/20 season with 28 wins in 31 games so far .

Manchester City were to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, but a 2-1 defeat means that Liverpool’s long wait is over without even having to kick – and fans are at Anfield to celebrate tonight.

The success of the Reds’ title is the 19th in club history, placing them behind the English record at Manchester United. Liverpool will travel to the field for the first time as champions on Thursday when they travel to Man City.

What Jurgen Klopp said

Jurgen Klopp paid emotional tribute to Liverpool legends Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard as well as club fans as he pondered his first title victory in 30 years.

Speaking to Sky Sports after Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City confirmed that the trophy would head to Merseyside this year, the German choked on trying to put words into words about the scale of the achievement.

Dalglish was the last coach to bring the title to Anfield, while Gerrard came close on several occasions in a trophy relay as captain of the Reds.

And the two men were in the forefront of Klopp’s mind as he spoke in the aftermath of the end of Liverpool’s three decades of waiting.

He said, “Unfortunately, I have no words, it’s incredible.

“It’s much more than I ever thought possible, becoming a champion with this club is absolutely incredible.

“Knowing how much Kenny supported us … it’s for you too, Kenny – you had to wait another 30 years for your club to win it – it was for Stevie, who had to wait a long time.
