5 minutes Chelsea are struggling to make two passes together, and when Leicester commits to the right, Rudiger must show Tielemans in touch.
3 mins Vardy descends to the left, and once again his low cross is clearly launched. It’s great on the home side, minus Chelsea, which is full of Sunday afternoon vibe.
3 mins Here is Leicester again, bottom left with Barnes and Vardy, but the possible center is pushed back.
2 min I think we could listen to the recorded noise of these inflatable wings. I am choking here.
1 minute Leicester pulls away when Gilmour gives it, Barnes makes his way to the penalty area and plays a pass to Vardy’s wall, but when he can hit him the first time, he takes an extra hit and the ball flies. Excellent start.
1 minute The players get on their knees – it doesn’t move less, affection, glow – and off you go.
The players are absent and we couldn’t even see the march. Strength and comfort with all of us during this difficult time.
I really don’t know how this game is going to play out. I guess Chelsea are the favorites, given the form and the lack of an advantage at home, but Leicester have too many good players to continue being trash. They will need Tielemans to participate because without him they are demanding a lot from their top three, while Chelsea may need another class player in attack. I think I just convinced myself to say I want a 0-0.
Brendan “Brendan” Rodgers says he puts everything in cup competitions, and hopes that the players will use their disappointing half defeat in the league cup to liquidate them. He wants to keep his team cool, which is why he made some changes, but his defense has been good, so he mainly leaves that alone. He thinks that Chelsea have exceptional players and notes two exceptional matches against them in the league.
Lampard hopes his team will produce a level of performance similar to what they produced mid-week, lamenting the inconsistency of his team. He also says that playing City requires enormous physical effort, which is why he has made so many changes, but is expecting a similar or even better show. He is happy to select Billy Gilmour, who is a talent, and hopes that Leicester will make it a good competition.
On BT, Robbie Savage talks about Wycombe Wonderers. They are so undecided.
There are so many good young English players right now, it’s absolutely ridiculous – in 36 years watching this game, there has never been anything like it. Gareth Southgate has so many players to choose from – in the back right, for example, he will have to spend the next 1 to 1 years choosing between James, Alexander-Arnold and Wan-Bissaka. In fact, I think the delayed euros will play a huge part in his favor, because almost all of his key players are improving, and in a year it may well be impossible to leave out Bukayo Saka, Mason Greenwood and Phil Foden.
We’ve seen what can happen when you make too many changes to Norwich-Man United’s awful game yesterday, but Lampard only made two in the midfield and on offense, so should get a smoother performance than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. I’m really looking forward to seeing Reece James, who is a colossal talent, as is Billy Gilmour, while Christian Pulisic is so full of confidence right now.
As for Franklampardschelsea, Frank Lampard has made six changes since the midweek victory over Manchester City. In the back, Caballero, Zouma, Emerson and James replace Kepa, Azpilicueta, Christenson and Alonso; in midfield, Gilmour replaces Barkley; while at the front is Abraham not Giroud.
Two interesting selections there. Leicester look much better balanced than the other night – 4-3-3 suits them, 4-4-2 no – and they haven’t even started playing yet. They will miss the injured James Maddison, but it will be much better for the return of Youri Tielemans, as well as Harvey Barnes and Ayoze Perez. I would expect much greater speed and flexibility than we have seen against Brighton.
