Juventus vs AC Milan: Ronaldo misses the penalty, but Juve advances to the Coppa Italia final

Juventus are in the Coppa Italia final after winning a 0-0 draw against AC Milan on Friday in the semi-final second leg. Juve drew 1-1 at Milan in February but could not find their touch in Italy’s first match a few months after the coronavirus pandemic. It was this penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo in the first leg that allowed Juve to advance to away goals where they will now face the winner of Saturday’s Napoli vs Inter Milan match.

Ronaldo had another penalty, but hit the post after 16 minutes, and Juve played more than 70 minutes with a man advantage after Ante Rebic’s well deserved red card moments later. Here’s what it looked like:

While AC Milan were in the game and had a chance to steal it, it was Juve who created luck after luck, but did not finish. Paulo Dybala had a quality look in the second half that Gianluigi Donnarumma saved well.

Juve were strong in defense and left little room for Milan, with Matthijs de Ligt commanding the end line.

The Coppa Italia final is scheduled for June 17 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Juve won it for the last time in 2018, beating Milan 4-0.

Final: Juventus 0, AC Milan 0 (Juve advances to the final)
