After all, Ian Heinisch will fight at UFC 250.
Middleweight was removed from his fight against Gerald Meerschaert earlier today with Anthony Ivy hired as a replacement.
One of the men from Heinisch’s area had initially tested positive for COVID-19, as first reported by TSN and the UFC immediately moved into a new fight. According to several sources, another test was carried out and the coach was finally whitewashed, which allowed Heinisch to resume fighting.
UFC officials confirmed to MMA Fighting on Thursday that Heinisch vs. Meerschaert is slated for the weekend card in Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, Ivy will still have a chance to fight in the UFC after agreeing to face Meerschaert with only 48 hours notice. Ivy should be postponed to a later date against another opponent yet to be determined.
With Heinisch back in the fight, he will now face Meerschaert in the preliminaries of UFC 250, which begins at 6 p.m. AND Saturday.
