The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was forced to strike out the slight confrontation between Matt Frevola and Frank Camacho after a cornerman for “The Steamrolla” tested positive for the coronavirus.
With just two days before the bell, Frevola vs Camacho is likely to get a new reservation for a future card, leaving Sat. night ESPN night (June 20) in Las Vegas with 11 fights.
“They tested me twice and both results came back negative,” Frevola wrote on Instagram. “I also provided proof of my positive antibody test from April 30 but the UFC wanted no responsibility or risk. Since there is a lack of knowledge about the incubation period and still so many unknowns about Covid 19, they decided to fire me because of the positive test result of my teammate and brother, Billy [Quarantillo]. ”
The promotion has not yet made an official announcement.
“He was a great help and source of support throughout the camp and I have no hard feelings,” said Frevola. “He is 100% healthy at the moment and feels good, so he must be symptomatic. It’s a crazy situation and everything happens for a reason. I am heavy and prepared to the maximum. I was really excited for this fight with Frank and I told him that if they found him a new opponent for Saturday, I would support him. If not, I am ready to relive this fight as soon as possible or when he wants. ”
